Reviews For Cycle World Magazine

No "Consumer Reports" here

As an avid lover of cafe racers of all breeds, I enjoy keeping up to date on what's new and what's hot in the world of motorcycles. So every few months I'll drop my extra cash on this or another magazine devoted to my style of bikes.

Sadly, I've never seen this or the other magazines take the "Consumer Reports" stance on any bike covered. It's as if they are employed by the manufacturer's themselves.

My favorite issue is the yearly one where they cover all of the motorcycles in production for the year. I look to the publishers to give me some solid advice on which one is truly the best in it's class. What I walk away with is a lot of hype about each bike. They state the obvious... which has the most horsepower, the highest redline, etc. But never which one is the best buy overall. Since you just can't go out and test ride motorcycles (at least not at the showrooms in my area) I depend upon opinions and facts to make the right choice.

I enjoy the articles to some extent, but not enough to warrant a subscription. This mag is a boy's club for the writers who get to borrow bikes from the manufacturer, ride them at extremes, then post a good story so that they get a new toy for the next issue.

As cycle mags go, this is one of the good ones. But none of them live up to what I want and need: A non-biased fact and opinion source.

Boring magazine

I love motorcycles and motorcycle magazines. However, I feel that Cycle World is probably the worst motorcycle magazine I've ever subscribed to. It's articles are redundant and poorly written. I am a sports bike fan, but this magazine is not for me. If you're into sports bikes, I recommend Sport Rider magazine. If you're not into sports bikes, I very much doubt you'll like this magazine. I will certainly not be renewing my subscription when it expires.
