Reviews For Car & Driver Magazine

Absolutely Exciting!

Every issue is "jam packed" with cutting edge automotive news and reviews. The test drive sections are extremely informative and amusing to say the least. They take each review into great detail to give the reader the feeling that they were in the driver's seat. I highly recommend reading this magazine if your in the market to purchase a new or almost new car or truck. I enjoy the advertising by some of the world's top vendors and suppliers. The articles often have a mixture of vehicle information and background about the area where the vehicle was tested. It makes even the most mundane vehicle seem interesting. Thumbs up!!!

Car And Driver! You Are The BEST

I started reading car magazines when I was about 10 I guess. I used to love my dad's Road and Track. That was his favorite and he was as loyal to that magazine as I am to Car and Driver. I've been a subscriber for over 10yrs. and still get excited every month.

I have to put in a good word for AUTOMOBILE, I think they are very close in quality auto reading. People who are into cars seem to lean more to Road and Track for racing, Motor Trend for everyday car news and Automobile for a classy alternative to the previous. For me, Car and Driver goes above and beyond to provide a great mix of information, road tests, humor, satire, comparisons, and everything else automotive. I enjoy their coverage of all the major auto shows, they seem to have a pulse on what is happening in the auto world and they bring it to you in a way unlike the others.

I don't know how many readers will admit it, but when some idiot writes in to complain about a Mustang beating a Camaro in a 0-60 test, the Editors use that special wit and humor to make the writer of the article feel like a complete ass, and I love it!! I feel they review every car and truck fairly and play favorites to no one, something rare in any magazine these days.

While they tend to review cars most of us can only dream about, they also try to provide the information you need to shop for a car and know what you're talking about. I knew about the new Focus before most of the Ford dealers in town did. Now that is the kind of stuff that makes for good consumers.

I think all car magazines have good intentions and try to appeal to a large number of people. What stands out about C&D is that they live to write about all things automotive, and they do it with attitude. It might not sit well with some, but I read this magazine and I know I'm getting the most honest , reliable, and professional information available. It's a great magazine with a loyal following, if you haven't read it and you love cars, you need to pick up a copy and enjoy!

Great way to get to know new cars

This is a great magazine, including reviews and tests of newest cars, suvs, trucks, and super cars... nice pictures, and full of info related to the automotive world

Comparisons Galore

Car and Driver is the best of the automotive- related magazines. It features numerous road tests and comparisons designed to help the consumer make a better buying decision.

Most of the articles in Car and Driver deal with statistics. The magazine features several vehicles each month with loads of information on each one. They cover things like the engine size, length and width of the vehicle, acceleration rate, braking distance and much, much more. The facts are presented in an unbiased, informative way. The writers don't try to promote one car over another. They want you to know the basics and then decide for yourself which vehicle best suits your needs.

In addition to individual ratings, Car and Driver also features head- to- head comparisons among vehicles in a specific category. For example, one months' featured article might be on minivans. The magazine will select a group of vehicles from this category, rate then on a scale from 1 to 10 in several categories, like handling, brakes, ride, engine, styling, etc, and then tally up the points and announce the winner. This is very useful to a potential buyer because it allows him/her to make a side by side comparison of similar vehicles.

The only bad point that I can come up with for this magazine is its lack of personal stories. Car and Driver is an informational magazine, with very little in the way of stories with a personal touch. If that is what you like in a magazine, then Car and Driver may not be very appealing to you. It is basically a magazine full of facts and figures.

If you are looking for information on your next new vehicle, Car and Driver is the magazine to buy. It has all the data you need to make an informed decision.

Know Your Cars

For the past 46 years, Car and Driver has kept the rest of the world on top of the game when it comes to both new cars and current automotive advances. At first, I always dismissed this magazine as one of the standard "boy toy" hot rod type. When a friend of mine bought me a subscription as a birthday gift, I discovered exactly how wrong I was.

Each issue is packed with articles about almost anything you would ever want to be informed about concerning new vehicles. They have accurate stories about how the new cars perform on the road, feature write ups by professionals concerning new technology and even have a few monthly columns by well established authors.

The Road Tests section is the area most readers will enjoy the best. These are extensive write ups about how some of the most recent cars on the market handle. There is anywhere from ten to fifteen different cars spotlighted in this way each month in articles that range from ten to twenty pages in length. Granted, about a third of these are on cars that the average Joe will never be able to afford, but at least it gives you the idea of what it would be like to have one.

The Features section always has five or six good shorter stories about new products, giving advise about what to get and what to avoid. These products range from new stuff for cars to cars themselves to movies and short stories. Each of these articles generally range from two to ten pages in length.

Then there is the monthly columns where regular authors talk about what they personally like or dislike about how the automotive world is going. They offer interesting viewpoints on everything from the way experts critic things to how they feel about something that an important public figure has done recently.

Last but not least, you get all the great ads that give good information about all kinds of cars and trucks on the open market. There are full page ads, half page ads and even fold out ads cram packed with the details of what this new car has to offer. Highly informative, although brief and to the point, the only drawback to these ads is that they (of course) don't mention the bad things about the product.

If you want to stay up to date, then get a subscription. However, you can always pay the news stand price and just buy the issues that have something in it that you want to read about. Either way, this is a good investment for all car enthusiasts.

Great Writers, BAD drivers

Car and Driver is *THIS* close to be being one of the best automotive magazines on the market. Their great writers write great articles, their great photographers give us great pictures, but their bad drivers give the slowest timed results of any other magazine available.

GO ahead and check for yourself. You'll see that the other major magazines will post their results are nearly always quicker in the timed tests. Half second seems to be the norm for the quarter mile. A full half second slower than any other magizine, ON AVERAGE!!

Some may say its manufacturer favoring by other magazines, but when the times are slower across the board, thats simply not a reasonable assumption. Also, when a friend of mine recently purchased the hot new Honda S2000, he checked out the mags. Other magazines had the S2000 listed at 13.8 in the quarter mile, while car and driver had it posted at 6 tenths slower, at 14.4! And when my friend took the car to the track, he posted a best of 13.89, so there was obviuosly something wrong somewhere. When one starts to investigate, they'll discover that similar findings are prevalent through all of Car and Drivers timed tests. In this day in age, when more accurate findings can be found in numereous other places, one wonders why anyone would keep returning to Car and Driver...

the reason?

Its still a great magazine. Weaker drivers and innaccurate times dont cause the demise of this otherwise excellent magizine. Their features are diverse and entertaining, writers wity and amusing, and aside from the poor driver times compared to other magazines, this is an excellent magazine!

Great Magizine and free

This magizine has all the goods. It has reviews tests and features on all the cars in the world. If you are interested in cars you would love this magazine. If you are looking to buy a new car you can look in this magazine for advice and safty tips. It mostly only show brand new cars comeing out or test cars but that does not meen it is a bad magazine. If you go to the Dullis airport you could get these magazines free. That is one very good thing about this magazine. The reviews on the cars are very well writen and written by funny writers. So you get all the speel on every car you could think of. Thank you for your time and reading my opinion.

They're Not Truck Guys

I've been subscribed to Car and Driver for over three years now. To me they are the most informative car magazine in publication. Their test are up to date on the cars they test and they always do a thought out review. They test cars that one could actually afford. Their comparison test are the best that any magazine does. On the negative side I wouldn't really take their opinion on the truck reviews. They admit they are not too fond of trucks, so they will always pick the more "carlike" of trucks. I guess they're from up north or something. No offense. But to me they are the best overall magazine out there.

The Car Bible

This was one of the first magazines I subscribed to and it is still one that I read every month. Car and Driver has always seemed to have an issue on the rest of the car magazines. What ever they have on the cover this month will be on Motor Trend and all the others next month.

Currently I love to read the articles. The writers of this magazine are extremely talented in getting the reader to feel as though they are actually driving the car. At the end of every article there is always a breakdown of car specs, and the closest competition to the car and how it ranks.

Car and Driver will also tell the reader straight up that a car sucks. They are extremely objective and will tell a car manufacturer that the car needs to be improved.

The magazine also is not just a high performance car magazine that shows cars that we would never be able to drive. Every month they show, complement, and criticizes new family cars. They give their word on SUV's and compacts.

When it comes to fun though, these guys like to have it. They seem to love their jobs and it is proven in their writing and comments such as, "love the way it howls when you put the pedal to the metal."

My favorite section is the letters section in the first part of the magazine. Here readers send in pictures of signs that are just too funny and sometimes weird. Anything from ads for a 1959 Ford Bus-RV that will trade fro sheep to, the welcome to Arkansas sign that declares Bill Clinton as a known sex offender.
